Also I was thinking that while we as readers have the benefit of the prequel and Brigger doesn’t, it would still seem he has been around long enough to know that humans get amnesia in situations like these.
Maybe he is just panicking, is simply frustrated, or maybe somehow he genuinely doesn’t know?
He knows in abstract that people forget stuff about dead players, but it’s rare to be in a position to witness the moment it happens, especially when non-players are in an unusual situation like this.
